SUMMARY

Jerusalem, 22nd of July 1946. A bomb explodes inside the King David Hotel. Trapped under the building, a young Armenian woman has an experience that will alter the rest of her life.

Quake is based on real events and, through a compelling mix of new writing, physical theatre and music, explores the interconnectedness of choices we make and the meaning of British identity. Five actors take on the challenge of recreating Jerusalem under the British mandate in all its colour and complexity, and the cast of characters that appear over the whole span of a human life. This play directly confronts the issues of belonging and entitlement, and explores a historical event that is simultaneously entirely personal and chillingly relevant to contemporary British politics.
