“Geoff Page's dark retelling of the story of the Pied Piper - the legend as you've never heard it before. ”

Pied Pipers

Plague and poverty threaten the corrupt town of Hamelin. The Councillors compete to offer their daughters for marriage to the Prince, rats lurk mid the rotting food, and the poor have been forced to sell their children into slavery. Only the care of the Mayor’s daughter, Ana, keeps the children alive, while their morale is boosted by the songs of the mysterious Piper, who has come to rid the town of the rats. When Ana is chosen as the Prince’s bride, accusations of witchcraft seem set to tear the community apart. Can the Piper save the town, or does he have motives of his own? This new adaptation of the classic story of The Pied Piper of Hamelin has been specially written for the Pied Pipers by Geoff Page, the composer of the darkly brilliant Academy of Death, to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the group. ‘A fantastic new musical... a stunning debut by a talented young composer. The best I’ve seen.’ – Edinburgh Festival Guide on Academy of Death.
