SUMMARY

This January the European Theatre Group will return to Cambridge with its 2011/2012 international tour-show, Shakespeare's 'King Lear'. Over the past fifty years, ETG has developed a reputation at home and abroad for producing innovative, experimental and professional interpretations of classic texts, attracting the most talented actors, technicians and creatives from within the university. 'King Lear' is ETG's most ambitious project yet, and promises to be one of the major highlights of the ADC's Spring Season. Set in an alternative 21st century Britain, ETG’s exciting new production aims to shed new light on a familiar classic.

Widely heralded as Shakespeare's most poignant tragedy, 'King Lear' charts the eponymous monarch's descent into madness. Ousted from the court by his elder daughters and forced into exile, Lear wanders the heath accompanied by a fool, a vagabond and a madman. As the fabric of society is torn apart by bitter rivalries and deception, the kingdom is left in tatters.

Admission: £8(£6) – £10(£8)
