SUMMARY

An unstoppable driving force of familial responsibility collides with an immovable object of narcissistic obsession when Bower Young - burdened with a struggling mother and a vulnerable brother - yields to the romantic advances of a cantankerous older lady, Mrs Blue Dalton. Her financial stability, along with the offer of a safe house for Bower’s brother Chalk, renders their marriage one of convenience, though Mrs Dalton’s charm and notoriety begin pique the curiousity of Bower.

Throughout their stay the stains left on Blue from her three previous marriages begin to seep through the fabric of the household and, as the air of the mansion evolves from an unconformable atmosphere to a violent suffocation, Bower & Chalk end up discovering all too late their part in a twisted act of fairy-tale mimicry.

Headlock Theatre Company returns to the EdFringe with a modern, devised re-telling of the French folk tale ‘Bluebeard’, bursting with energetic physical sequences.
